Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. was founded January 16, 1920, at Howard University, Washington, D.C. The local chapter was organized on December 17, 1927 as Rho, an undergraduate chapter. The Rho Chapter was re-organized as a graduate chapter on November 30, 1944 . The chapter name was then changed to Beta Theta Zeta.
